1. Prepare the vegetables: Wash all the vegetables. Separate the lettuce leaves. Slice the tomato into rounds. Finely dice the onion. Peel and cut the potatoes into 1cm thick slices, then further cut them into 1cm thick chip size slices. Rinse the potatoes and dry well.
2. Make the chips: Heat a big splash of oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Fry the chips in a single layer, for 5 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the pan and drain on absorbent paper.
3. Cook the burger: Divide the beef mince into portions (one per person). Lightly oil the cut side of the halved burger buns and brown the cut side lightly on the frying pan (or flat grill). Place the burger into the frying pan (or flat grill) over high heat. Press to flatten using a small saucepan lid or spatula. Sprinkle with some salt. Place the diced onion on top of the burger before turning over. Cook until brown on both sides.
4. To serve: Divide the buns between serving dishes. Top with the lettuce, tomato and beef patty. Spoon the burger sauce over the patty. Serve with the seasoned chips.
